Aspen Christian Counseling

We are a team of faith driven mental health specialists serving the needs of the faith community at home and around the world since 2005.

We at Aspen Christian Counseling are excited to announce a new chapter in our support offering, titled The Alethea Project, a project that has been in our hearts and minds for more than two decades and will be conducted in partnership with two humanitarian aid agencies, Restoration Now Global and Global Disaster Response.

Alethea is an ancient Greek word meaning truth or disclosure. In light of that, we strive to locate, assess, and help the hurting; to revive the truth of hope, and, through advocacy, aid survivors of trauma and abuse.

Below you can read more about the types of places The Alethea Project serves in, the resources it offers, and the people it works alongside.

We invite you to be a part of this work. If you have ever imagined offering support or dignified care for the world’s most insecure populations, please consider making a tax deductible donation or, if you want to more hands on, emailing us so we can share travel and training updates with you.

Join us, and share in the vision of the Alethea Project today.

Why does Alethea exist?

Traumatic experiences are a part of being human. But, what happens when these experiences exceed our ability to cope? Trauma doesn’t just disrupt our psychology, but also our spirituality, our functionality, and even our relationships. Large-scale traumatic events, such as natural or man-made disasters and violent conflicts, can impact whole populations, leaving communities devastated as they attempt to deal with the lasting effects.

What does Alethea do?

Alethea brings together a unique combination of mental health practitioners, committed ministry leaders, teachers, and care providers, all with more than two decades of experience, to help organizations and individuals around the world respond to traumatic events and their lasting effects.

Who does Alethea serve?

Care workers and those working with non profit organizations are often the first responders when trauma occurs, but may not be adequately prepared or supported to deal with its effects. More often than not, these workers are affected by secondary trauma and in desperate need of resources and training to prevent burnout and compassion fatigue.

Care teams and Faith spaces often experience traumatic events as a community or are uniquely positioned to serve those who do, responding to the unique challenges presented by traumatic events requires a healthy, trauma-informed approach to gospel ministry, power dynamics, and the integration of mental health services.

At the heart, we are those called to work alongside and advocate for our world’s most vulnerable populations. A variety of risk factors, such as poverty, war, and natural disaster, make certain populations more vulnerable to the adverse effects of trauma. Untreated or ongoing traumatization can create prolonged instability, devastating individuals, families, and communities.

How does Alethea serve?

We seek, through individual consultations and assessments, customized trainings, NGO partnering, group and individualized care, to ultimately embody an expression of the Good Samaritan parable: Alethea is committed to serving with integrity, excellence, and compassion.

Alethea connects its work to the daily headlines, making for easily understood outreach, and generating interest, support, and donations that would, in their magnitude, never be available otherwise.

I have been blessed to work in this space, across various roles, for more than twenty years; however, providing professionals with opportunities to use their skills and talents to help vulnerable populations is by far my greatest.
